Thank you for your interest in volunteering in Durham Public Schools. Volunteers are an essential part of our efforts to ensure academic achievement for every student in every school. By tutoring, assisting with activities or otherwise sharing unique talents and time, volunteers make a valuable contribution toward the success and well-being of our students. Our school staff will be happy to help you get started and consider the many options for participation. Many activities offer orientation and training for guidance.
Getting Started!
DPS has a tiered model of volunteering wherein the volunteer position determines the level of screening and the type of information requested. There are three contributing factors to determine the Tier of a volunteer job: the setting, staff supervision and level of student contact.
