Title:Downtown Library Special Collections Volunteer
Description:Interested in the "behind the scenes" action of the library and in history?  Are you detail oriented and comfortable with technology?  Then you could be one of the dedicated individuals to help with Special Collections projects. Tasks include but are not limited to: transcription of oral histories, inventory of our government documents, scanning, manipulating, and indexing our resources in vertical files, newspaper collection, and necrology lists.

Title:Ralph Ellison Library Children Reading to Dogs
Description:

Calling all therapy dogs!  Come to the Ralph Ellison Library (with your humans) on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays each month and help kids bone up on their reading skills.  We promise lots of attention and belly rubs as you provide an encouraging, non-judgmental audience for young readers.

Be a Summer Volunteer at the Ralph Ellison Library! Your volunteer work will encourage participation in Summer Reading for your entire community, help children love to read, and support your library. All applicants will be interviewed, and participation will be based on both your interest and how well your skill set fits the library's needs.
