Description

Plan your next team outing and volunteer at Breakthrough's Men's Center in East Garfield Park! Volunteers will prepare or bring dinner for 35 guests plus the members of your group. Breakthrough provides the kitchen, the volunteers provide the food plus paper and plastic flatware and utensils. Food can be catered in, even from Breakthrough's own Bridge Cafe.

Here are following the COVID guidelines:
Volunteers must wear masks at all times when in the building regardless of their vaccination status
Volunteers need to check-in at the front desk to have temperature taken
Volunteers must wear an apron, hair net, and gloves while in the kitchen
Volunteers must stay in the kitchen and not eat with the guests at this time
6 volunteers max per group - ages 12 and up

One Important Addition
To best serve vulnerable individuals living within our facilities, we are requesting that volunteers who join us on-site are fully vaccinated. We are not requiring individuals to provide proof of vaccination.

Details for Serving a Meal
Please prepare food for 35 people. We house 30 men and 30 women in our transitional shelter; the extra 5 accounts for staff and 2nd servings!

Dinner: 6 PM - 8 PM

The Breakthrough Men's Center is just west of Garfield Park, a short drive or cab ride from downtown. Free street parking is available near the center.
