2019 Anacostia River Clean-Up Assistant - Bladensburg Waterfront Park

Description

Help beautify the Anacostia River. Volunteers will collecting floating debris and trash while on the river bank, be transported down river by boat or clean-up the area near the park.

This volunteer opportunity is approved for Prince George's County Public Schools student service learning hours.

This volunteer opportunity is appropriate for Girl Scout Silver Trefoil Award government or green hours.

Additional Information: Upon arrival, volunteers must check in at the park office. Volunteers who are ages 16 and over may have the option to use a canoe to clean the river. Volunteers are required to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and a life vest (provided). Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and to bring a change of clothes and shoes. Bring a reusable water bottle. We suggest bringing plastic kitchen gloves that go past your wrist. We will provide latex gloves. Please have a way to secure your keys and phone. Dry bags are highly suggested. Groups may schedule other clean-up dates by contacting Tonya Johnson directly - tonya.johnson@pgparks.com.
