Old St. Hilary's Open Space Preserve has a friend in the Broom Buster team, loyal volunteers who have worked together to remove French broom on the preserve for over 20 years. Incredible progress has been made to suppress broom regrowth and allow native species to recover and thrive. Come learn about the importance of invasive species removal and lend a hand! This tiny Mill Valley preserve, with small drainages and natural springs, is home to native wildlife and horses. For years, we've worked with volunteers from the Alto Bowl Horseowners Association removing invasive, non-native French and Scotch broom, but a large infestation still remains. There is strength in numbers: we need more volunteers right now to prevent further expansion, though our ultimate goal is eradication.
