What is the hour commitment to become a volunteer?

With the wide variety of volunteers that exist throughout Texas Children's Hospital, each has a different level of commitment. While exact schedules and times to volunteer vary, a regular commitment is vital to your volunteer experience. Patients, families, and staff depend on volunteers to be there to carry our that assignment so the volunteer commitments should be taken seriously.

Adult Volunteers at the Main Campus

Are asked to commit to a minimum of one 2 hour shift a week for a minimum of 6 months.

Adult Volunteer at the West Campus

Are asked to commit to a minimum of one 3 hour shift a week for a minimum of 6 months.

Junior Volunteers during the summer at the Main Campus

Are asked to commit to a minimum of 12 hours a week for at least 8 weeks over the course of the summer. Shifts are available Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and will be completed in either 4 half day segments from 9-noon or 1-4, or two full day segments of 9-4.

Junior Volunteers during the school year at the Main Campus

Are asked to commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week for the course of the school year. Shifts are available on weekends and after school from 4:30-6:30.
